THE PERFECT ROUTINE FOR SENSITIVE SKIN
1. Mario Badescu Facial Spray with Aloe, Herbs, and Rosewater
After an epic breakout in February when my skin freaked out due to a new product, this toner spray was one of the only things that would calm my broken out, red, irritated face. It is soothing and absorbs easily. It is a multi-tasker that works hard for a bargain price. Not only do I use this to calm my skin down, I also use this to set my makeup, revive tired skin, and as a toner. Simple ingredients such a rosewater are easy on the skin and work for all skin types.
2. Ren Flash Hydro-Boost Instant Plumping Emulsion Update:
A little over a month ago I wrote about this fave (find my original review here). Now that it has been in the rotation for about six weeks, I thought it would be fair to give an update. It is safe to say that this product is crazy good. Not only does it instantly plump your skin, but it gives you a radiant youthful glow.
Last time my review focused on how it made gave my complexion and skin tone and instant boost. I did not write about it’s claim to reduce wrinkles because I felt I hadn’t used it long enough to make that claim. I have noticed over the last month and a half that it has reduced the appearance of fine lines, and wrinkles – specifically on my forehead and under my eyes.
Also, I can breakout with the thought of oil touching my skin. This product claims it is for all skin types even the most breakout prone and sensitive. Well, I am happy to say it holds up to it’s claim. No breakouts no problems.
I have noticed a dramatic difference in my skin overall and this will be in the rotation until further notice.
3. Ren EVERCALM Global Protection Day Cream:
This little cream claims to do A LOT! So I am going to copy what the company has posted it does via their website below and then share my thoughts –
From the Ren Website:
“REN’s #1 selling moisturizer. This calming and soothing antiaging moisturizer repairs and hydrates even the most sensitive skin while protecting against everyday stressors like smoke and pollution. Skin is left baby soft and beautifully healthy.
Results: This moisturizer combats chronic discomfort, redness and sensitivity to ensure skin glows with renewed health and stays looking younger for longer. Achieve less sensitive skin in 21 days.*
Skin type: Sensitive and/or delicate skin. Skin affected by pollution (city life, smoke).
How to use: Apply every morning and evening after cleansing. Take two pumps of day cream and warm in the palms of your hands. Gently massage into face and neck until absorbed.
*100% agree that skin feels less sensitive after 3 weeks of product use.
Clinical trial conducted on 21 women.
- Hydrates and replenishes
- Calms and soothes with Calendula Oil
- Repairs and protects with Omegas 3 & 7
- Protects against free radicals to combat the signs of premature ageing
- Trains skin to be less sensitive “
Okay so…. Is my skin less sensitive? Maybe. It is not breaking out as much and a horrendous breakout (mentioned above) was calmed by this for sure. I will keep using it and write a follow up. I do still have red patches and some dryness below my chin and on the sides of my nose. If I use a face wash Im not used to it still stings my face like crazy.
The other claim is that it makes skin appear younger. I will agree with that 100%. Using this product in conjunction with the two serums I have pictured above, the answer is yes. My skin does look way better and more plump and youthful than even six months ago.
Something I really like about this moisturizer is that a little goes a very long way. I push down less than halfway on the pump when applying and it is more than enough, so you get your money’s worth. I do live in a city where there is a lot of congestion and pollution. That can contribute to the breakouts I battle. Like I said I am not breaking out as much so maybe this is protecting my skin for the bad stuff floating around out there.
4. Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum
So we’ve talked about this serum before. Mila even wrote a post about how life changing it was for her. You can read that here. I wanted to write about it again, because I have a completely different skin profile than her. Breakout prone, oily and somehow, effing dry along with being uber sensitive. After Allure named it Best Serum of 2016 and other beauty gurus said it was changing skincare, I thought why not try it.
First, for Mila it made fine line and wrinkles less noticeable. For me, not really. What it did do though was brighten, tone, and even out my skin. I noticed a significant size difference in my pores. They shrunk down to almost nothing, which is a big win for girls with oily skin. I noticed my under eye circles were not so prominent and a few dark spots were a lot lighter.
