So, the question is where have we been? Well, summer 2019 was a whirlwind for both of us to say the least.

Before we get into all of that, we have a little announcement. We will have a new posting schedule; instead of Monday/Wednesday, we’re moving to every Tuesday and Thursday for new blog posts. So look out for twice weekly content on all things style, beauty, cocktails, travel, home decor, and more. Lastly, don’t miss out on our newsletter The Barton Edit. We send a love note to your inbox every Friday. You can read more about all details, and how to sign up here.

Now let’s get into what happened this summer …

Mila: If you follow my Insta, you’ve probably seen more than a few stories of me being on the train super early in the mornings. That’s because my kickass new job is basically headquartered in Manhattan! That also means that for the past three months since I joined my new company, I’ve been traveling up to NYC for work almost every week. That wasn’t actually the plan when I took the job and I can’t say that I love the travel, but hey, here we are. Taking this position was an amazing opportunity and I’m grateful for it, but the trade off is crazy long hours and a lot more stress. Unfortunately, between work, family, and life in general, something had to give and for me, that was the blog. That said, even though my work schedule is ramping up for fall, I’ve found myself deeply missing the creative outlet and feeling of community that I get from 16th & Barton. I’m so excited to dive right in and it’s great to be back!

Bex: Well, I moved across 3 states to Pittsburgh, Pa and bought a house. It all moved way faster than anticipated, and left the summer feeling like a fever dream. Finding a house, a new private school for my twins, and how I fit in to a new city has been a lot. Plus, a lot of serious life events went down which I’ll elaborate on in a more extensive post next week. Taking a break from social media, blogging, and all things web related was necessary. In hindsight I am glad that I did. Burnout happened and I had to regroup on many levels. However, I am so ready to get back to writing and connecting with readers. I have a huge list of umpteen ideas for posts and more I can’t wait to share.

We love our relationship with our readers, and we appreciate all of you who have reached out over the summer to see what was going on with the blog. Connecting with you guys makes us love this little thing we created more and more. To think, we used to get so excited when just five people would read our blog. Now we have created this huge community of women, and it’s just amazing.

Now it’s your turn! We would love to hear your ideas for posts in the comments below. Let us know about topics you would find interesting then go show us some love on IG and Pinterest (links below). Let’s keep this awesome community of badass women going!
