A FIVE-MINUTE MINIMAL MAKEUP LOOK

When I’m travelling, I always opt for a light touch with my makeup. As big of a product junkie as I am, I just don’t have the patience (or space) to deal with contouring, smoky eyes, or too many brushes.

With that in mind, I went shockingly minimalist in my makeup approach during my last trip to Portugal. A normal day went like this: moisturizer + SPF, tinted moisturizer, undereye concealer, brow gel, then blush or bronzer – that’s it! Some days I went completely makeup free and it reminded me of a couple things: 1) how liberating it can be to rock an actual natural look; and 2) how much time I spend on my normal makeup look!

I’m not saying I’ll be giving up my favorite makeup routine anytime soon, but I’ll probably be choosing this time-saving, no-makeup makeup approach more often. Here are my go-to products for a quick, easy, and flawless natural makeup look.

Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer (Tawny): This is the only tinted moisturizer that’s managed to give me the lightweight feel I want without sacrificing the coverage I need. For comparison’s sake, this provides way more coverage than Glossier’s Perfecting Tint but isn’t nearly as heavy as Bobbi Brown’s Tinted Moisturizer (two other products I have and use). The Laura Mercier option is right in that goldilocks zone. I’m truly loyal to this brand as Laura products have been in my makeup bag for more than 10 years. Bonus – this has SPF. You know I’m all about that sun protection, so a little extra never hurts!

IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Under Eye Illumination Full Coverage Concealer (Light/Medium): A little bit of this product goes a LONG way! I got a sample from Sephora ages ago and pretty quickly decided to buy the full-size version once I ran out. Um, still not happening any time soon. I actually use this concealer as a brightener underneath my regular undereye concealer. It’s super thick and full coverage, so be sure to start with the smallest dab possible. I also like warming it a bit between two fingers before pressing (not wiping) into the skin. You’ll be shocked by how much it brightens the undereye area.

Glossier Stretch Concealer (Medium): I love how this product conceals without looking unnatural or cakey, but the best part is that it actually feels hydrating. Sometimes concealer can make the undereye look dull, but this one is the opposite! The coverage is definitely buildable and once it’s set, it does not budge.

Glossier Boy Brow (Brown): With my brows microbladed, I don’t need to fill them in anymore, so this brow wonder is all I need. Part gel, part wax, part pomade, the Boy Brow holds everything in place while making your brows look extra fluffy.

Glossier Cloud Paint Blush (Puff): A quick swipe on the apples of your cheeks with this cotton candy pink cream blush and you’ve got the perfect natural flush. Not really into blush? Try Glossier’s Haloscope Face Highlighter in Topaz for a sun-kissed glow instead. Pro-tip: swipe the Haloscope across your eyelids to really complete the look!
