TOP SPRING 2019 TRENDS TO SHOP RIGHT NOW

photos of Topshop leopard skirt and BlankNYC leather jacket

After taking a brief self-imposed shopping hiatus after the new year, I was more than ready to get my hands on some new spring fashion. I passed on some of the crazier runway trends (no thanks neon and prairie dresses, sorry!) as they just don’t fit into my neutral aesthetic, but I did key in on three spring trends that will integrate beautifully into my existing wardrobe. Read on for my faves at all price points!

PRINTS AND PATTERNS

While I generally stay away from prints, leopard is basically a neutral these days. Leopard dresses, skirts, tanks, shoes – this print is everywhere because it coordinates with other wardrobe staples so easily. And honestly, it does look pretty great in photos.

Reformation always has fabulous pieces, but this leopard midi dress is a great statement piece.

This leopard Topshop maxi skirt with thigh-high slits (also featured in the photo at the top of the post) is something that I normally would never have looked at twice, definitely not my typical style. But the blue/black color combo felt like a slightly more conservative take on the animal print, so on a whim I tried it on and totally loved it! I’ve got big plans for this piece already as I’m rocking it with booties and leather now, and will swap in strappy sandals and silky tanks once the warm weather hits.

I also love the versatility of a small polka dot print. Wear this great wrap-dress now with faux fur and tights, wear it later with a denim jacket and wedges!

RELAXED DENIM

While I love a pair of crisp dark jeggings, I definitely recognize that the focus is on slouchy boyfriend cuts right now and I really dig it. Combine that fit with a softer fabric and a lighter wash and you’ve got the perfect recipe for spring and summer denim.

My bff Brooke and I text each other constantly about our hunt for the perfect oversized denim jacket. Some are too boxy, some are too stiff, it’s a tough find! My latest attempt is this classic Levi’s trucker jacket. I plan to wear this with all the flowy printed dresses and leopard skirts from the section above!

Light-wash denim is also on my radar after seeing this fab IG post by Caitlin Sauer of @lostluxe. She was rocking the ultimate pair of relaxed Levi’s in a summery wash. They had just the right amount of distressing, I need them. These will look equally fabulous with minimalist sandals, bold flats, and casual sneakers. Get the look with these awesome 501s.

BUCKET BAGS

There were a couple “It” bags last spring and summer, including the Cult Gaia bags and of course, the Staud ‘Moreau’ cage bucket bag. This year, I’m focused on a more streamlined silhouette.

I’m obsessed with Staud’s non-crochet version this year. Because of the super simple, clean design, you can rock the ‘Bissett’ with basically any outfit.

I also dig this cool Mango dupe for the Simon Miller tortoise-handled ‘Bonsai’ bag. There’s just something about a great bucket bag that oozes laidback, chill vibes and it’s a genius alternative to the whole Cult Gaia basket trend.

What other trends are you guys shopping for this spring? Let me know in the comments below!
