AWARDS SHOW RE-CAP: OSCARS 2018

We love movies and we live for awards shows, especially the Oscars. While we were hoping there would be more Golden Globes-esqe moments of women’s empowerment, we are still over the moon happy with how some major societal and cultural themes were addressed.

One particular segment that stood out for us was the adorable yet poignant introduction from Kumail Nanjiani and Lupita Nyong’o. We both come from families of immigrants and with action on DACA and the Dreamers stalling in Congress, our hearts melted during their supportive “we stand with dreamers!” moment.

So from Jordan Peele’s historical win for Original Screenplay, Frances McDormand’s epic speech, the Oscar for Animated Feature going to “Coco” (YAS Latinos!), and more overall diversity this year, we are calling this year’s Oscars ceremony a success. It is great to live in this watershed moment where inclusive changes are happening and diversity is becoming the new normal.

But we can’t forget the fashion! Keep reading for our favorite looks from last night.

Favorite Looks

This year was all about luxurious metallics and sculptural drama. So many stars were fabulously glowing; we had a really difficult time narrowing down our favorites! However, there were two looks that stood out above the rest. The first was Jennifer Lawrence, who has been killing red carpets for her Red Sparrow press tour, by the way. She really dialed up the fierceness and looked stunning. The second was Betty Gabriel – she was so flawless in a plunging gown and gorgeous makeup.

Peace + love,
